How Cardiac T2* Works

1. Patient Referred

The patient will be asked to hold their breath during a 15 second MRI Scan performed at one of our validated Cardiac T2* clinics.

2. DICOMs Transferred

The DICOM files are securely transmitted via FAST to the Resonance Health Core Lab.

3. Analysis Performed

Analysis and quality checks are performed by a team of highly skilled physicists from our Core Lab.

The Importance of Cardiac T2*/R2* (Iron) on the Management of Patients Who Receive Regular Blood Transfusion

The below publications are related to the importance of Cardiac T2*/R2* (iron) on the management of patinets who receive regular blood transfusion. The introduction of cardiac T2*/R2* monitoring in thalassemia major patients has been associated with a dramatic drop in deaths from cardiac disease in the UK. Guidelines [1-3] on the management or iron overload in regularly transfused patients recommend regular monitoring of cardiac T2*/R2* to enable early intervention in cases of cardiac iron overload.
